The HSD Process densely packs the top coat molecules creating a contact angle of 116 degrees on our premium products.

Essilor's proprietary High Surface Density (HSD) Process improves the strength, uniformity and durability of the super-hydrophobic top coat enabling the lens to stay cleaner longer and remain the easiest to clean over time. This process densely packs the top coat molecules together on the lens surface so smudges, fingerprints, dirt, and oil droplets do not stick to the surface of the lens.

With the HSD Process, both Crizal Avancé with Scotchgard Protector and Crizal® Alizé® lenses achieve a contact angle of 116 degrees, making them the easiest-to-clean No-Glare lenses on the market.  (Lenses with a higher contact angle lenses are easier to clean).

This exclusive technology also increases the durability of the top coat so the lens stays smoother and slicker for longer. Even after 20,000 wipes, over 98% of the top coat performance remains on our premium offerings.
